Introductory Seminar for Newly-Hired Lawyers

Legal Aid Service has finished preparatory works regarding expansion of legal aid on civil and administrative cases. After testing and interview, introductory seminar was held for lawyers who were elected to work on civil and administrative cases.

The director of the Service, Meliton Benidze welcomed new employees and wished success in future activity. In the framework of the seminar, newly-recruited lawyers got introduced with the specifics of working on civil and administrative cases, as well as current case processing of the Service and details of labor relations.

The newly-recruited employees will get down to work from April 15, when legislative amendment enters into force, according to which state ensured legal aid will be expanded and cover certain categories of civil and administrative cases.

At the starting stage, advocacy service (court representation) will be carried out on family and inheritance disputes, as well as on matters of social defense. Until today, legal aid mainly covered criminal cases and did not fully meet the needs of the socially vulnerable population.
