On May 27, 2025, representatives of the Batumi Legal Aid Bureau: Nino Sharashidze, Gvantsa Turmanidze and Elza Chikovani held an informational meeting with senior students of Public school of the village of Akhalsopli, Khelvachauri Municipality.
The lawyers introduced the students to the Legal Aid Service (LAS) current operations and services, assistance criteria, and various ongoing programs.
The main goal of the meeting was to raise the legal awareness of adolescents, to inform them about issues related to children's rights , and mechanisms for protecting them, regulated and defined by international and domestic legislation, issues arising from the Juvenile Justice Code, about rights and obligations, age and extent of responsibility, the importance and inadmissibility of discrimination, bullying, as well as the rights of victims of violence, including those of women abuse and domestic violence, and state mechanisms and means for their protection. The discussion also covered the best interests of minors, the need to listen to their opinions and share them, equality, and other important concerns. Lawyers presented the students with samples of lawsuits and court orders tailored to children.
The meeting continued in a question-and-answer session, and representatives of the Batumi Legal Aid Bureau provided comprehensive information on all questions and issues raised. They also answered the teachers' questions.
