Batumi City Hall Hosted LAS Representatives

On March 22, Batumi City Hall hosted the representatives of Legal Aid Service. The head of the LAS Adjara Legal Aid Bureau, the lawyer Maia Katamadze and the consultant Nato Iremadze informed the city hall members about eligibility criteria for free legal assistance, assignment of a lawyer on civil, administrative and criminal cases, expansion of the mandate, legislative amendments made to the Law of Georgia on Legal Aid.

The aim of the meeting is to make free legal assistance more accessible for the population. The employees of the local administration have to deal with the insolvent beneficiaries every day who are in need of free legal aid. Thus, they will be redirected to the Adjara Legal Aid Bureau.

Batumi City Hall employees suggested to the LAS Adjara Bureau representatives to carry out joint on-site consultations to some administrative units. Such meetings will serve to increase access to legal aid and raising legal awareness of the population.
The participants of the meeting received LAS information brochures
