Lawyers Visited Mtskheta Public School N1

The meeting was conducted in Mtskheta as a part of the 16-day global campaign on violence against women and domestic violence.

Violence against women and domestic violence is a crime and an abuser will be punished with full force of law – it was one of the main messages of the meeting held at the public school N1 of Mtskheta. The lawyer of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Legal Aid Bureau – Lela Tchankotadze and the specialist – Sophio Chikhashvili demonstrated special presentation on violence against women and domestic violence to the schoolchildren and the teachers and discussed the problem and its legal aspects.

The lawyers underlined that infringement of life and health of a human, as well as violence committed against the family member is a crime and it is punished by the law. Being relative or a family member does not entitle other person to violate other’s rights. The Government does not tolerate the cases of violence against women or domestic violence, as well as to the people who are in charge of responding to the domestic violence cases and avoid fulfilling their duties. The state has zero tolerance policy to people who commit violence against women or domestic violence.

The attendees were informed about the LAS services and received brochures which include information that Legal Aid Service offers free legal assistance to all victims of violence despite their insolvency.
