On March 6-7, the LAS attorneys attended the training dedicated to the UN conventions on rights of the disabled and on eradication of discrimination against women.
In the framework of a 2-day training, the participant will discuss the Georgian and international legislation on rights of the disabled, on gender equality and domestic violence. The focus was made on practical aspects of implementation of the legislation; inter alia, in the context of the human rights situation with IDPs, the elder and the disabled.
The training is carried out in the framework of the project Elimination of Discrimination against IDPs, the Elder and the Disabled Persons in Georgia, by the NGO Partnership for Human Rights.
It is worth to mention that the trainings were about very actual theme. According to the latest legislative amendments, Legal Aid Service will carry out defense of the victims of domestic violence from January 1, 2015. From April 15, it is planned to expand legal aid on certain categories of civil and administrative cases, among them on cases which derive from the Law of Georgia on Social Defense of the Disabled.
